Website integration, new additional service by CultBooking

Our distribution managers, have discovered that sometimes hotels do not have a system administrator, webmaster or developer to help them integrate the booking button, also called booking engine into their website.

Other times the website administrator is too busy with other tasks or does not know how to properly integrate the booking engine technology. Very common is iFrame or Pop-ups on the website itself that many times are integrated in a wrong way or in the wrong place. If hotel owner decided for iFrame, which we do not recommend for various reasons, then the webmaster has to be extra carefull to add propoer settings and adjustments as follows:

Padding, boarders and size

What is padding for?

The padding clears an area around the content (inside the border) of an element.

Example of padding:

style="padding:1px;border:1px solid black;"

Developer also needs to make sure the window of the iframe is not too small. Therefore adding appropiate boarders and size.

iFrame real example of wrong integration

Hotel and distribution manager approached us, saying there is an error with the booking engine. I checked and indeed, there was a problem, the technology has been integrated via iFrame incorrectly.

Desktop integration

When I clicked on ‘Sofortbuchung’, book now button, the iframe opens down below. User is not notified that a new action happened. Also the website should have redirected to the inferior part of the website where the iFrame is, this is a new command that the developer should have implemented. Given the fact that iframe is not visible, is somewhere down below hidden for the desktop user, the hotel risks to lose direct bookings.

Another problem of the iFrame is the scrolling line from the left side. This is outdated and not needed. Moreover, in this case, we have 2 scrolling lines, even worse.

Mobile integration

The mobile version of iframe. As user, I can see the iframe down below without any padding, no boarders. Moreover, I can not scroll down to simulare a search, check availability or rooms as the iframe would not allow me to do so. I only see check-in date, but the rest is blocked, very frustating for the end user.

External link real example of good integration

Therefore, CultBooking developer was given the task to integrate the booking engine as external link on as many points of the property website as possible. So that is easy for the user to find the book now button.
First of all the ‘book now’ has been integrated directly on home, the first image background appearing when entering the website:

So the green button: ‘Jetzt buchen’ has been added. Moreover, buttons have been added when scrolling down on the following sections:
